Attributes of a Scientist

The attributes of a person towards nature and environment makes it possible for him to discover new knowledge thus makes him a scientist.  Some of the adjectives that can be used to describe a scientist are:

1.      Curiosity
He has an inquisitive and questioning mind that is deeply interested in nature. He keenly observes the things and events in his environment.

2.      Observant
He is always ready to receive information from all possible sources. He keeps his eyes and ears wide open and record his observation accurately.

3.      Open-minded
He is willing to listen to other ideas, looks at all sides of the problem and is guided by facts forming an pinion.
4.      Resourceful
He makes use of available, finds substitutes for expensive materials (innovative) and plans for new strategies for solving problems(creative).

5.      Objective
He is not bias nor does prejudice thus interpret information analytically. This means that his findings are based on experimental and mathematical evidences.

6.      Persistent
He does not easily give up. He continues to experiment despite obstacles and failures until the truth is finally known.

7.      Responsible

He takes into account the consequences of his actions. Because of this, he sees to it that he is reliable, systematic and orderly in his work (disciplined).
